Frequently asked questions
- What does Lawbyte cost for clients?
- Nothing. Lawbyte is free for clients. Any legal fees are agreed directly between you and your lawyer.
- How does matching work?
- When you post a request, it's sent to up to 3 verified lawyers who are licensed in your state and handle that kind of matter. Each lawyer decides whether to accept it.
- What does 'verified' mean?
- We looked up the lawyer's license on their state bar's public website before listing them. It is not an endorsement of their skill or a guarantee of results.
- Is my information shared?
- Lawyers first see only your first name and a short summary. Your full contact details and message are shared only with a lawyer who accepts your request.
- Is Lawbyte a law firm?
- No. Lawbyte is a marketplace and does not give legal advice. No attorney-client relationship exists until you sign an engagement letter with a lawyer.
- Is Lawbyte a certified lawyer referral service?
- No. Lawbyte does not claim to be a certified lawyer referral service.
- What do lawyers pay?
- $15 per accepted lead. No subscription and no commission. Clients pay lawyers directly.
- Is lawyer billing live?
- Not yet. Lawyers are not being charged while billing is being set up.
- What is the refund policy?
- See our refund policy. Clients pay nothing, so there is nothing to refund for clients.
